Description:

1006. (ELIZABETH I) (1533 - 1603) Queen of England who established the English litany, imprisoned Roman Catholic rival Mary, Queen of Scots and eventually agreed to her execution which in turn led to Philip of Spain dispatching the Spanish Armada for an invasion of England. Despite its violence, her 45-years reign saw England grow into a world power. A document from her reign, oblong 4to., undated [between 1579 and 1603], on parchment. Nineteen lines of Latin, being a return concession from John Bowser to Queen Elizabeth for lands previously granted by her to Richard Bowser through letters patent. Parchment shows wear and soiling consistent with age, very bold ink. Document has been tightly trimmed, affecting text, otherwise good. $200 - 300
