Description:

(ELIZABETH I)
(1533 - 1603) Queen of England who established the English litany, imprisoned Roman Catholic rival Mary, Queen of Scots and eventually agreed to her execution which in turn led to Philip of Spain dispatching the Spanish Armada for an invasion of England. Despite its violence, her 45-years reign saw England grow into a world power. Manuscript document from the reign of Elizabeth I, 1p. sm. folio, June 16, 1562, accomplished in various thicknesses of brown ink and bearing images at top of Elizabeth upon her throne, a winged dragon, British lion, crown, etc. The document witnesses a court finding in a dispute between two individuals. Text worn at folds, with a long tear in blank bottom margin repaired rather crudely on verso, else good to very good.
