(1845 - 1937) Secretary of State in Theodore Roosevelt's cabinet, awarded the 1912 Nobel Peace Prize for his mediation in European and Latin American disputes. T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., New York, Nov. 21, 1904 to 'Master William Sanger', son of William C. Sanger (1853–1921), Assistant Secretary of War (1901-03) and president of the American delegation to the Geneva Conventions of 1906. Root discusses Sanger's upcoming trip to Geneva to negotiate the Geneva Convention of 1906. Root congratulates the young man on 'the splendid buck' which the young man took while hunting in the Adirondacks, and hopes that he will become 'as sure a shot as your father, but you will have to work hard to accomplish that...' Fine.
