ELIAS BOUDINOT
(1740 - 1821) Revolutionary War officer and President of the Continental Congress, signing the Treaty of Paris in that capacity. Later director of the U.S. Mint. The final portion of an A.L.S. 3pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d., but docketed Jan. 10, 1800] to his brother Elisha Boudinot concerning a variety of legal matters and complaining about people who don't pay their bills: "...It is too often the Case that these People make a bargain for the Right, get them surveyed and in possession and never trouble themselves about payment -- I am served... so by a David Wright (I believe in Morris County or in Essex close to it) who came to me at your House 2 Years ago, and he had a dispute with W. Condit of Morris Town before the Council of Proprietors, and by means of a survey made in my Name by T. Ball several Years before... prompted to pay me for the Rights, but I have never seen or heard from him since --- If you know where he lives, I wish you would write him a Letter as from me, that I shall eject him off the Land, if I do not hear from him without delay. I am much pleased with Dr M's Sermon, but as much disappointed by G. Morris'..." More good content. Weak at folds with minor partial separations, some marginal wear, else very good.
