Description:

ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS
(1864-1936) Prime minister of Greece, dubbed "the maker of modern Greece" for his considerable influence on both state and international affairs. Uncommon signature and sentiment penned in French in his sprawling hand on a 4to. sheet to prominent German writer Emil Ludwig. In full: "On the occasion of the 50th birthday of my friend Emil Ludwig with all my best wishes E. K. Veniselos Athenes, 14 January 1931". Ludwig (1881-1948) was particularly known for his biographies, and likely interviewed Venizelos at one point. Light wear to edges, very good condition.
