471. DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER T.L.S. "Ike E", 1p, 4to., on his gilt-embossed Gettysburg, Pa. letterhead, with a typed note that the letter was sent via Walter Reed Hospital, Nov. 13, 1968, to Elmer Q. Oliphant: "...I am confident the country will benefit from Dick Nixon's abilities. The doctors tell me I am making steady progress, although to me it seems a bit slow...". Eisenhower died at Walter Reed just four months after this letter. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope containing Eisenhower's printed franking signature as well as a printed card expressing appreciation for "your concern and good wishes".
