Description:

(EINSATZGRUPPEN TRIAL) OTTO RASCH
OTTO RASCH (1891–1948) German Nazi official and Holocaust perpetrator, commanded Einsatzgruppe C in northern and central Ukraine until October 1941. He organized the Babi Yar massacre, which saw the murder of over 33,000 Jews, and was responsible for the deaths of many thousands more. Rasch was indicted for war crimes at the Einsatzgruppen trial, but the case was discontinued for medical reasons. Rare lot of three original 8 x 10 in. b/w press photographs from the Einsatzgruppen Trial in Nuremberg, all with original paper captions affixed to the verso and stamped as originating from the 'Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Public Relations Photo Section'. The images show the debilitated Rasch on a stretcher and in the dock, clearly quite ill and probably just before his case was delayed due to his illness. He would escape the gallows by dying of his illness a few months later. Also included is a 4 x 5 in. 'mug shot' of Rasch from the same source. Very good.
