(1841 - 1910) King of Great Britain and Ireland, eldest son of Queen Victoria who because of his indiscretions was kept in the dark concerning matters of state until he succeeded to the throne following his mother's death. His reign was marked by more openness and visibility of the royal family. A.L.S.. "Edward R." on Biarritz Hotel du Palais letterhead, 1p. 8vo., "Wednesday" [n.d.], in full: "Dearest Lilly, Many thanks for your kind letter received on my arrival here. As you won't allow me to come see you - will you pay me a little visit here at four o'clock tomorrow. I shall be delighted to see you again. In haste, Your affect. cousin, Edward R.". Fine condition, nicely double-matted with an engraving and framed. Not examined out of frame.
