Description:

EDWARD HAND (1744 -1802) Physician, farmer, congressman, and a general officer in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He commanded troops in some of the key battles of the war, including Long Island and Trenton, and Yorktown. His franking signature "Edwd Hand" on a folded cover addressed in his hand to John Dickinson "in Counsel" at Philadelphia, no date but almost certainly war-date from Hand as brigadier general to Dickinson as a delegate to the Continental Congress. Fine.
