EDMUND J. RANDOLPH
(1753 - 1813) Aide to George Washington, leader of the Virginia delegation to the Constitutional Convention, Washington's Attorney General and later served as Secretary of State. Rare, partly printed D.S. as member of the Virginia Convention, 1p., 12mo., [Richmond], July 17, 1775, one of a series of "One Shilling & 3 Pence" banknotes issued by the government. Virginia issued the series to raise 350,000 pounds sterling, and made them redeemable on January 1, 1784. State arms on the right front. The borders, the arms of Virginia and the text were all engraved separately, with verso left blank. Banknote number "3269", boldly signed, "Edm. Randolph". Numbered in light brown ink, signature in darker ink. Slightly toned, with moderate horizontal and vertical folds at center, slightly occluding Randolph's last name in signature.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
