THOMAS A. EDISON Excellent content A.L.S. "Edison", 2 separate pages, 8vo., [n.p., 1924] to Jaffrey P. Buchanan, manager of Edison's Record Disc Division, in dark pencil as was Edison's custom. A terrific letter in which Edison foresees the effect election results will have on the short-term sale of his records. Marked "Confidential" , Edison writes, in part: "...According to 1922, 1923 and now 1924 curve on sale of records We will do in Oct. 300,000 Nov. 360,000 Dec. 400,000 so figure accordingly & 10% more if Coolidge is elected and 20% less if Folette goes in & 33% less if election is thrown into Congress. Edison" . With holograph envelope marked: "Buchanan Rush! Important" . Light, even toning, else very good. By implication Edison must have assumed that sales would remain flat if Democratic candidate John Davis, chosen after over 100 ballots, were elected. In any event, Coolidge won the election and Edison continued amassing his fortune. $1,000-1,500
