Lot of four excellent early books on zeppelins, a few quite rare. Includes: a large and respectable German volume on the life and work of Zeppelin and his airships, entitled 'Graf Zeppelin: Sein Leben-Sein Werk' (Charlottenburg: Dr. Wilhelm Glass & Co., 1929), 308 pages. Folio bound in black gilded linen with gilded portrait 'medallion' of Zeppelin on the cover. It includes excellent photos, including engineering drawings, images of machines, hangars, and airfields, and more; rare volume 'Deutsche Flugzeuge' from 1925 by Bruno Wentscher (Berlin: Deutsche Scher Wille), 1925. 152 pages, folio hardcover. Richly illustrated with images of airplanes from the early days of biplanes to airships. Slight signs of wear on the edges, otherwise almost good condition; 'Zeppelin' (Berlin: Verlag August Scherl), 38pp. sm. folio, images and text concerning early zeppelins ca. 1910, worn and soiled; 'Zeppelin fahrt um die Welt' (Berlin: Verlag August Scherl), ca. 1910, similar to previous, a bit worn; and 'Mit dem Zeppelin nach Amerika' (Berlin: Verlag von Reimar Hobbin), 1929. 144pp. sm. folio, a beautiful collection of plates with text, pastels and drawings showing the trans-Atlantic crossing of the Graf Zeppelin. Library deaccession, very good. WITH: An original program and menu for a reception honoring zeppelin engineer Hugo Eckener held at the Hotel Astor, New York, Oct, 16, 1928. Speakers for the even included James J. Walker, Mayor of New York, and Royal S. Copeland, Senator.
