EARLY SOVIETS DIPLOMATS
Good group of three documents, each signed by a diplomat active shortly after the establishment of the Soviet Union, includes: VATSLAV VOROVSKY (1871-1923) Marxist literary critic and Soviet diplomatic representative to Scandinavia, Poland and Italy. Assassinated by a White Russian exile while representing the Soviet Union at the Lausanne Conference. T.L.S. in Cyrillic on diplomatic letterhead, 1p. 4to., [Italy], June 10, 1922, untranslated, signed at the conclusion by Vorovsky in black ink. Shows folds, with extensive contemporary pencil notations on the verso, else very good. WITH: LEONID KRASIN (1870-1926) Bolshevik revolutionary, financier, and first Soviet ambassador to France, negotiated the Anglo-Soviet Trade Agreement of 1921. Typed D.S. in Cyrillic, 1p. oblong 8vo.,[n.p., n.d.], an untranslated telegram, signed boldly by Krasin at the conclusion in black indelible pencil. Shows some uniform toning, else very good. WITH: ALEXANDRA KOLLONTAI (1872-1952) First Soviet ambassador to Norway, the first woman from a major international power to hold such a position. Partly-printed D.S. in Cyrillic on diplomatic letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Oslo, Feb. 16, 1925, granting a Norwegian ship permission to hunt in Soviet arctic waters. Signed by Kollontai in black ink at the conclusion, countersigned by two others. Shows folds, with torn file holes at the left margin, else very good. Three pieces.
