Description:

EARLY DAGUERREOTYPE TRADE CARD OF SING SING
Interesting document, a salesman's sample of a trade card for J. P. Ball, Daguerreotypist in Cincinnati, printed on the verso of a Bartlett engraving showing Sing Sing Prison and Tappan Sea in New York. Ball's eloquent advertisement includes "Timely Hints to all: It need but a remark, to call the attention of the reflective mind to the regret expressed by thousands, that they do not possess an image of a departed friend or relative...N. B. Children take in from one to two seconds, so as to catch even the fleeing smile of Nature". The card measures 10 1/2" x 7 1/2", very good condition.
