EARLY BASEBALL
Lot of two items related to early baseball includes: Good content baseball player's letter, 6pp. 4to., Goshen, Ma., Aug. 10, 1876 in which "Howard" writes his girlfriend. Heartbroken Howard is greatly upset learning that Mary will be away for five months, and his emotions take up most of the letter. He does conclude: "...We have been to Worthington today, and we won an easy victory, 37 to 13...My record - 3rd at bat - 1st in number of runs, 3 assist, put out 6 men, altogether a very disgusting game, as we were very unevenly mismatched...". Sold with: Newspaper, Paterson Daily Press, 4pp. folio, Aug. 14, 1866 with a brief stories on p. 3: "Base Ball. - A match game of base ball was played...between the Mystics and Atlantics of this city...a well earned victory for the Mystics, by a score of 46 to 31...Olympics vs. Irvingtons...circles are on the qui vive to see the match tomorrow...". Very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
