DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. T.L.S. on Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Washington, Sep. 21, 1946, to Major Gen. Howard McCrum Snyder, who would become personal physician to Eisenhower in the White House. Written shortly after Eisenhower's mother's death on September 11, 1946, in part: "...Just a note to express my deep appreciation for your thoughtfulness in making a gift to the Army and Navy Memorial Aid in remembrance of my Mother. It was very kind of you..." . Eisenhower boldly signs, "Ike" in blue pen, a rare Eisenhower signature penned during a time of heavy personal sadness and exhaustive responsibilities. Includes transmittal cover. Fine. Lot includes three Western Union telegrams from Eisenhower to Snyder as well, all circa 1960's.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
