Description:

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., New York, November 1, 1952, to Mrs. George A. Whiting thanking her for a letter. In part: '...I am deeply grateful of your letter...and the generous expression of confidence from you...Your warm words were a source of encouragement to me. It is my deepest conviction that no one can truly succeed unless he seeks the guidance of Him who watches over us all...' Accompanied by an original mailing envelope. Fine condition. Eisenhower was known for being deeply religious, a trait instilled on him by his mother who was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. While speaking about himself in 1948 he said that he was 'one of the most deeply religious men I know though unattached to any sect or organization.' Three days after this letter on November 4th, Eisenhower was elected to his first term as President in a landslide victory.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
