DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
(1890-1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. T.L.S. as President signed with initials on gold-embossed monogram letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Feb. 7, 1954, to Maj. Genl. Howard Snyder, in part: ‘…It is a certain amount of injustice that you – a doctor and a Major General – should be incarcerated in Walter Reed on your birthday, I nevertheless venture to suggest that pulling your rank will get you nowhere. This is one birthday that your friends will celebrate even more vigorously and happily than will you…Happy Birthday!'. Howard McC. Snyder became acquainted with Eisenhower toward the end of World War II and joined his staff as his special advisor and doctor during the latter's 1952 Presidential campaign. EISENHOWER, 1p. 4to., Valley Forge, Sept. 25, 1975, sending a photograph [not present] to an autograph seeker, fine condition. Two pieces.
