Description:

(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Good association T.L.S. "Ike Eisenhower", 1p. 4to., [Washington, D.C.], July 21, 1951, to longtime political consultant and presidential advisor BERNARD M. BARUCH (1870-1965). Eisenhower pens a personal message, in part: "I have read both your VMI and your West Point talks. The latter one I particularly liked although, of course, the VMI text was more interesting to me personally because of my long association with General Marshall... Yesterday, there arrived at my house a very fine basket of fruit bearing your card. The whole family has enjoyed your present... It was a great privilege to have the opportunity of talking to you while you were here; from you, I always seem to gain a better understanding of my own job..." He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. Also present is the official program for the January, 1957 inauguration of Eisenhower and his vice-president, Richard Nixon, 48pp. 4to., in its original envelope, and in fine condition.
