A.L.S. 1p. 8vo with integral address leaf, [n.p., n.d], to Simon Fitzhugh concerning a defendant awaiting a court appearance. In part: "...I presume you have no objection to accepting his appearance as he is settled in the City & not likely to run away - If so, please to let me know Otherwise, it is my duty to inform you that the allegations contained in his Letter, (supposing they are true) will not prevent his being held to bail if you chuse it. I see however no necessity for it...". Light toning along vertical fold, else fine. Offered together with a mounted clipped signature of du Ponceau with a manuscript biography accomplished on the mount. Two pieces, very good.$300-400
