Description:

DONALD TRUMP
(b. 1946) Controversial American financier, deal maker and gambling mogul, once near bankruptcy, he recovered his wealth and successfully ran for president in 2016. T.L.S. 'Donald' on Trump Organization letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Apr. 2, 1992 to playwright Stephen DiLauro in New York. DiLauro had written a play, 'Kiki LaMaja', for which many had suggested Trump's then-mistress, Marla Maples for the title role. Trump's publicist, Chuck Jones, attended a reading of the play and found it a good role for Maples, but was soon arrested for pilfering 70 pairs of her shoes. A few months later, DiLauro's play 'Avenue Z Afternoon' was televised. At the same time, Trump undertook a charitable renovation of Wollman Rink in Central Park. By chance, DiLauro and Trump met, and the two walked together to the Plaza, and corresponded. Offered here is Trump's letter to DiLauro, reading in part: '...I have received your kind letter...and am pleased that you and your son enjoyed your visit to the Wollman Rink. Regarding your play. 'Kiki LaMaja,' I have passed your letter on to Marla, and you may be hearing from her shortly. Thank you for sending your video of 'Avenue Z Afternoon.' Best wishes for continued success...' With mailing envelope. Folds, else fine. Sold with DiLauro's signed letter of provenance, signed copies of 'Avenue Z Afternoon' and 'Kiki LaMaja', and a digital recording of the A&E production of the former.
