(1848-1909) Head of the House of Bourbon from 1887 to 1907, Carlist claimant to the throne of Spain, de facto King from 1872-1876 and leader of the Carlist forces in Spain during the Carlist Wars in the 1870s. Good lot of three signed items, includes: A.L.S. "Carlos" in French, 2pp. 8vo., [n.p.], April 9, 1883, addressed "Dear Princess", not fully translated but in part requesting that his correspondent for send a selection of photos of battles, and making plans to dine at Carlos' home. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows faint foxing, slightly ragged at the left edge, else very good. WITH: A.L.S. "Carlos" in French, 2pp. 8vo., Venice, July 23, 1892, to a Mr. du Bourg, not fully translated but in part announcing his decision not to send a representative to France at the current time. He signs boldly at the conclusion in violet ink. With some ink show-through, else very good. WITH: A.L.S. "Carlos" in French, 2pp. 8vo., Venice, August 10, 1892, also to Mr. de Bourg, not fully translated but in part praising his correspondent for his services as his representative.
