Lot 1489
1489A. MORT DRUCKER (b. 1929) American cartoonist whose satirical work was spotlighted in Mad Magazine for almost 50 years. A super item, an original 22" x 28" panel accomplished in ink and wash, used for publication in Mad Magazine, c. 1968?. Replete with corrections and pasted-in text balloons, this is the final panel that would have been photographed for its publication in Mad Magazine. Not signed by Drucker, but there are some red ink notations barely visible at bottom as they have been covered in white ink in preparation for the camera. We cannot, however, determine the hand. The page is part of a larger piece, being a parody of a celebrity funeral with such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin (dancing with the corpse) as well as Sophie Tucker and others. A wonderful piece of original Mad Magazine artwork. $600-800
