18. DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE Rare Eleazar Huntington Declaration of Independence broadside, one page, 19" x 23 1/2", Hartford, Connecticut, circa 1820s. The text of this "Declaration of Independence" follows the original as far as content, however it is recreated using early nineteenth-century type. Huntington, the engraver, was also a master calligrapher and intentionally retained the "feel" of the original Declaration while incorporating new styles of presentation. The famous signatures are faithfully reproduced without embellishment. Deep brown toning throughout with stains on the upper left and lower right margins. Folds and areas of wear at the center. Framed to an overall size of 27" x 31". Not examined out of frame.$2,000-2,500
