DEATH OF A GERMAN CORPORAL
A small archive of material relative to the death of Albert Doderer, a radio troop leader, killed on Dec. 25, 1942 while fighting on the Don River east of Rossosh. Dodorer was born in 1919 in Murrhardt, Wurttenberg. On December 24, 1942, he was severely wounded during fighting east of and near the Don River, Russia. After his injury, Doderer was taken to the Krinitschnaja first aid station, where he died the following day. Included in this archive are two letters by Doderer to his family, one containing information about his actions in the Don River area; a letter from a comrade dated Feb. 25, 1943, giving details of Doderer's death; the official Wehrmacht announcement of Dodorer's death sent to his family, 1p. legal folio, Berlin, June 26, 1943; a real-photo postcard of Doderer; two death announcements dated March 24 and Mar. 30, 1943; the three funeral cards dated April 7, 1943; several pieces of correspondence from Dodorer's father, Albert Doderer, requesting the Kizl Ay ('Red Crescent') to investigate his son's death as he suspects that he was taken prisoner by the Russians; and Dodorer's October 1942 pay slip, sent by Feldpost. Together, 15 pieces.
