HENRY DEARBORN (1751 - 1829) American military officer and Secretary of War, fought at Bunker Hill, in Arnold's Quebec expedition, at Wyoming Valley, and in the War of 1812 took Fort George and York with heavy losses. A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., Washington, June 19, 1806, to his son Henry. Father Henry promises to send his son money soon, adding: "...[Caleb] Strong is Gov'r. I presume the reason which principally induced Heath to decline serving, was his dislike to Strong. Altho Strong is Gov'r he is tied hand & foot, and of course will be unable to do anything against the republican interest...I hope your judgment has become so matured as to prevent any imprudent ? in relation to a matrimonial connection...".
