(1893 - 1971) American Secretary of State under President Harry S. Truman from 1949 to 1953, helped design the Marshall Plan and was a key player in the development of the Truman Doctrine and creation of NATO. Partly-printed D.S. as Secretary of State, 1p. 4to., Washington, July, 1950 recognizing thirty years of service to teh State Department by John G. Erhardt. JOHN G. ERHARDT (1889-1951) server as Consul in Hamburg and later in London under Ambassador Joseph Kennedy. During the war, he was in a high-level State Department position in Washington, where he was involved in the planning of the surrender of Germany and occupation of Germany and Austria. After the war, he served as de facto Ambassador to Austria and as political adviser to Gen. Mark Clark, who led the American occupation military forces in Austria. His last posting was as Ambassador to South Africa.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
