735. ALEXANDRE DE CLOUET (1812-1890) Confederate Congressman from Louisiana, delegate to the Louisiana secession convention. War-date A.L.S. 3pp. 8vo., Richmond, July 16, 1861, to his son Paul, a volunteer in the Confederate army, later a prisoner of war. In part: "...As you may imagine [I was] somewhat disappointed in not finding with Mr. [Judah P.] Benjamin any letter from you...I had hope that I would have been able to go and see you before the...meeting of Congress...I regret that you inadvertently omitted to send me the name of your Company and Capt...I have not the heart to speak of my parting from the family...If you are in want of money or anything else let me know...Address me until otherwise informed of Care of Hon. J. P. Benjamin...". Clean separation at two folds, a small hole at top left corner, very good. $300-400
