With an additional notation by VARINA DAVIS: "The body of the note is all Mr. Davis handwriting, V. Jefferson Davis". Also docketed by the recipient: "Receipt written and endorsed by Mr. Davis". An interesting document signed by husband and wife whose similar handwriting has confused autograph collectors for decades.
