(1790-1860) Officer of the United States Navy during the War of 1812, later Commodore of the East India Squadron. Good content A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Baltimore, Oct. 13, 1835, to Alfred H.P. Edwards. Geisinger writes concerning the travels of Polish explorer and geologist PAWEL STRZELECKI (1797-1873), in full: "Count Streleske [sic] has mentioned to me his intention of visiting China and probably Manilla, in which case you will confer a great favor upon me by showing him some attentions if you can in any way be useful to him. I am sure he will duly appreciate your kindness. This gentleman has resided in this country some months, and has endeared himself to an extreme acquaintance which he has made among the first & most respected of our countrymen..." The letter bears mounting remnants on the verso, else very good.
