Description:

DAVID DUKE CAMPAIGN MERCHANDISE
Good lot of seven pieces of ephemera and merchandise, all related to the thankfully unsuccessful senatorial and presidential campaigns of former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard DAVID DUKE (b. 1950). The group includes a camouflage-patterned mesh-back "trucker"-style cap, emblazoned "Duke President"; a white cotton tank top, emblazoned "David Duke U.S. Senate" on front and back; a "Duke President" pinback button; a "Duke President" bumper sticker; two "David Duke – Your Next U.S. Senator" tokens; and a fundraising mailer for Duke's 1991 campaign for Governor of Louisiana, in which he claims to be in dire financial straits due to his impending trial for campaign violations. Mailers such as these would later be used as evidence in Duke's 2002 trial for mail fraud. All very good. The collection is offset by a "Resource Packet" prepared by the Louisiana Coalition Against Racism and Nazism, date August, 1991, providing an exhaustive examination of Duke's anti-Semitic and white supremacist background, including his association with the Klan and various neo-Nazi groups. Eight pieces overall.
