DANVILLE LEADBETTER
(1811 - 1866) Confederate brigadier general who constructed the defenses at Mobile and Chattanooga. After the war he fled to Mexico and then Canada, where he died. War date D.S. "Approved & ordered paid D. Leadbetter Brig. Genl." 1p. 4to. on pre-printed Confederate States stationery, Atlanta, July 1862, approving an invoice "For services as private in Co. E 50th Regmt Tenn vol said Regmt was captured at Fort Donelson but I made my escape and joined Co A 1st Ky Cavalry and that pay is due me from 22nd Nov 1861 to 22 Mch 1862 being 4 months" usual folds, light soiling to verso, else very good.
