DANIEL W. ADAMS
(1821-1872) Confederate brigadier general, wounded three times, and led his forces during fighting at the Hornet's Nest, Perryville, Stones Rivier, and Chickamauga, and further participating in the battles of Selma and Columbus, Georgia. He surrendered to Union forces in Meridian, Mississippi on May 9, 1865. War-date D.S., 2pp. 8vo., Tennessee, Nov. [?], 1862, a muster roll submitted by a major of the 14th Battalion Louisiana Sharp Shooters also known as Austin's Sharp Shooters. Adams signs his approval on the verso as brigadier general. The sharp shooters were formed with men from the 11th Louisiana Infantry Regiment and saw action in Perryville before being assigned to Adams and Gibson's Brigade and stayed with them from Murfreesboro to Nashville. An unfortunate near-full length tear across the bottom third, notable ink show-through and minimal paper loss at the left edge, not affecting the text. Overall, very good.
