(1810 - 1897) Confederate brigadier general who led a corps at Shiloh, later serving under Bragg, Van Dorn, and Joseph E. Johnston. Pair of fine content war-date items, includes and A.D.S. as brigadier general, 1p. 7" x 4", Oct. 7 [1863] to "Col. Orr". In full: "What amount of provisions can you collect accessible [to] you? Call on the people to bring them to us immediately. Sold with a second dispatch, unsigned, also to Col. Orr, very close to the same date, in full: "A stand must be made at Holly Springs if possible - if not possible, it must be done at Takahatchee". Both telegrams are in pencil, with first name in signature a bit stained, still good overall. Two pieces.
