DALTON GANG - JACOB YOES
(1839-1906) U.S. Marshal who in 1892, with U.S. Jailer Pape, learned of the Dalton Gang's plan to rob two banks at Coffeyville, Kan., and set a trap for the bandits. They killed Grat and Bob Dalton together with Dick Broadwell and Bob Powers. Emmett Dalton was shot from his horse and captured. Partly-printed D.S. "Jacob Yoes M" 1p. legal folio, Fort Smith, Ark., Jan. 31, 1891, an order to pay J. A Hammersly for "services rendered as Crier in attendance at the United States District Court...". Usual folds, else fine condition.
