Description:

(DACHAU CONCENTRATION CAMP) EDUARD WEITER
EDUARD WEITER (1889 – 1945) SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer and concentration camp commandant. He administered Dachau and succeeded Martin Weiss as camp commandant on 30 September 1943. Conditions declined under his administration, and it is also likely that Weiter personally killed the dissident Georg Elser. Committed suicide or was murdered by fellow SS officers at war's end. Rare war-date partly-printed D.S., 1p. large 4to., Dachau, May 22, 1943, a performance report issued to SS-Sturmmann Gunter Kuhne who had trained at Dachau between march 30 and May 22, 1943. His rather average report is boldly signed by Weiter at bottom, also signed by the training office, an unidentified SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer. Very good.
