(D-DAY) HMS TORMENTOR RADIO CALL SIGNS
Pair of documents related to the Royal Navy''s part in the D-Day landings in Normandy. Includes a printed D.S., 1p. legal folio, [n.p.], May 30, 1944, a "Top Secret" list of call signs to be used to communicate by radio with various naval offices, facilities, and "gooseberries". This copy is marked as having been issued to an officer at HMS TORMENTOR, a Royal Navy base near Portsmouth used in the training of landing craft crews and British commandos. Chips at margins, not affecting text. Also included is the printed "Confidential" document: "Portsmouth Command Communication Orders", 18pp. legal folio, Portsmouth, May 15, 1944. These orders, issued under the name of Adm. Charles Little, describes wavelengths monitored, radio stations testing procedures, ship and shore station call signs, watch procedures, jamming, inter-ship communications, maintenance, etc. Very good to fine.
