Description:

Partly-printed D.S. on letterhead of the Central Office for Jewish Emigration, 1p. 4to., Prague, June 25, 1942, a "form letter" specifically directed to the Prague Creditbank concerning the disposition of the confiscated assets Jewish. In small part: "...the emigration fund for Bohemia and Moravia has taken over the liquidation of the [assets] of Jews named in the attached list [not included]. Therefore, I request that you transfer all balances/custody accounts and savings deposits/ deposits of these Jews, together with interest, to the Resettlement Account No. 3, Emigration Fund...at the Bohemian Escompte Bank in Prague..." A request is also made for information on any Jew's "blocked" account, as well as for information on any safety deposit boxes which may be owned by Jews. With official hand stamp at bottom initialed by the bank recipient, signed in type by a "Dr. Pittasch". File holes. As they sought to emigrate to safety, Jews were forced to turn over cash savings to their German occupiers. In this case, this late in the war, it's entirely possible that these account holders had already been murdered.
