The CSS GEORGIA was finished at Savannah in 1862 and was used to protect the river approaches to Savannah for nearly three years. When her steam engines turned out to lack sufficient power for offensive use, Georgia was anchored in the Savannah River as a floating battery, protecting both the city and Fort Jackson. On December 21, 1864, the Georgia was destroyed to prevent capture when Union land forces threatened to take the city. Folds, else fine condition.
