Description:

423. CROSS-SECTIONED CASE-SHOT WITH MINIE BALLS A most unusual cross-sectioned 12 pound Wright combination fuse case shot, showing within that instead of the usual spherical iron balls encountered, this shell was filled with minie balls as evidenced by the bullets cross-sectioned within. As this shell was used by both sides in the war, odds are this example is Confederate due to their savaging of the minie balls as shrapnel. With base, very good. Obtained directly from noted Gettysburg dealers The Horse Soldier, whose expertise in arms, projectiles and relics is unimpeachable. $300-400
