733. SAMUEL W. CRAWFORD (1829-1892) Union brigadier general who commanded a battery at Fort Sumter, and later led at Antietam, Gettysburg, and Five Forks. Uncommon partly-printed D.S. "S.W. Crawford" as Colonel 2nd Infantry and Brevet Major General, 1p. oblong folio, Huntsville, Alabama, June 30, 1869, a "Muster Roll of Steward, Wardmaster, Cooks, Nurses, Matrons, and detached Soldiers, Sick, in the Post Hospital of Huntsville Alabama", being the payroll for the hospital staff, including a surgeon, steward, cook, 4 male nurses, and 2 female matrons, for April 30 through June 30, 1869. Evenly age-toned, with some spotting and staining, minor chipping to outer blank margins, otherwise very good condition. Signed by six of the staff members, and endorsed by "J.V. De Hanne" as "Surgeon in charge of Hospital". $150-200
