CONFEDERATE SHEET MUSIC
Fine lot of five pieces of Confederate sheet music, only one piece post-war. Included is: "Bonnie Blue Flag", published by Miller & Beacham, Maryland, 1862, 5pp. 9 3/4" x 13". The lyrics, read, in part: "We are a band of brothers and native to the soil fighting for the property we gained by honest toil and when our rights were threatened the cry 'rose near and far. Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!…". The front cover has a nicely engraved blue flag upon it, a few brown spots; "Gen. ROBERT E. LEE Quick March", 7pp. 10 3/4" x 14" published by A. E. Blackmar, New Orleans, 1864, likely post-war printing, light spotting and soiling; "The SOUTHERN SOLDIER BOY SONG. As Sung by Miss. Sallie Partington in the Virginia Cavalier at the Richmond New Theatre." 3pp. large folio, published with lithograph cover by George Dunn, Richmond, 1863. The lyrics, read, in part: "Bob, Roe buck is my sweetheart's name, he's off to the war and gone. He's fighting for his Nannie dear, His sword is buckled on…he is…my Southern Soldier Boy…". Light spotting and damp stains; "The March of the SOUTHERN MEN." 3pp. large folio, published with lithograph cover by George Dunn, Richmond, 1863. The lyrics, read, in part: "There are many brave men in the Southern land, who have hurried away to the field. Who have sworn to defend us, or die in our cause…I hear their war-cry coming…deep over mountain and glen. Their bright gleaming bayonets have carried the hill. Tis the march of the Southern men…", damp stain and some foxing; and "TAKE ME HOME", 4pp. large folio, with music by Hermann L. Schreiner, published by J. C. Schreiner & Son, Savannah, Georgia, 1864. The lyrics, read in part: "Take me home to the place where I first saw the light. To the sweet sunny South…to place where my little ones sleep, poor massa lies buried…over the graves of the loved ones I long to weep…". A bit worn. Five pieces.
