Description:

CONFEDERATE HAT INSIGNIA FROM ANTIETAM
An interesting Confederate relic recovered from the battlefield of Antietam, a brass insignia once attached to a kepi. The insignia is 2" x 2" and bears a raised eagle. Sewn to a vintage card bearing a blind-stamp of the Hagerstown, MD. G.A.R. and typed note reading: "Taken from a dead rebel's hat at the Dunker Church. Made from a peace flask eagle. G.A.R. Reno Post No. 4, Hagerstown, Maryland". Originally sold in The Manual of Arms 2009 catalog No. 31, item 70, with a copy of the listing. Expected oxidation, very good condition. Certainly one of a kind!
