Description:

CONFEDERATE GENERALS WILLIAM J. HARDEE, OTHO STRAHL AND WILLIAM W. MACKALL
Rare war-date document signed by three Confederate genereals. The document, 1p. 4to., {n.p.], is issued from: "Head Quarters Strahl's Brigade" and dated Mar. 25, 1864. Headed: "General Order No. 107", it lists a number of promotions being made within the brigade and is signed by one "J. J. DuPrey[?]", an aide de camp, at bottom. On the verso, the document bears three A.E.S. approving and forwarding the document, these being made by Confederate generals OTHO F. STRAHL (1831 - 1864), Confederate brigadier general who led a brigade in the Army of Tennessee, killed in action at Franklin; WILLIAM J. HARDEE (1815-1873), Confederate lieutenant general who led his corps at Shiloh and Atlanta, and attempted to halt Sherman's March to the Sea; and WILLIAM W. MACKALL (1817–1891), a Seminole Wars and Mexican War veteran, C.S.A. brigadier general, chief of staff to Braxton Bragg and Joe Johnston, and commanded a brigade under John H. Forney's. Small hole just grazes Mackall's signature, otherwise the document is very good.
