Good pair of items signed by notable Confederate colonels, includes: JOHN W. GRIGSBY (1818-1877), Colonel commanding the 6th Kentucky Cavalry under Gen. Joseph Wheeler, and later his cavalry corps chief of staff. Signature ‘J. Warren Grigsby' in black ink on a 3 x 1.25 in. slip of paper affixed to a larger card. Shows some brushing at the end of the signature, toned overall and with mounting remnants to the verso of the card, else very good. WITH: BENJAMIN S. EWELL (1810-1894), Colonel commanding the 32nd Virginia Regiment, assistant adjutant general to Johnston and later, his brother Richard S. Ewell. Signature ‘Benj S Ewell' in black ink on a 3 x 1.25 in. slip of paper cut from the conclusion of a document, adding ‘By command of Genl. Johnston' and his rank, ‘A A Genl'. The rank is partially cut off at bottom, else in fine condition. Two pieces.
