Description:

CONCENTRATION CAMP LIBERATION PHOTOGRAPHS
A good collection of ten mostly 4" x 5" b/w Signal Corps photographs, all with printed captions on verso including a stirring image of prisoners of war cheering American soldiers as they enter the main gate of the notorious labor camp. Over the gate a group of Spanish anti-fascist prisoners have hung a large banner welcoming their liberators. The image is accompanied by other images of liberated Russian, Polish and other P.O.W.'s in other parts of Germany. Of interest is an image of an American soldier attempting to keep a recently freed Russian P.O.W. from looting a German store. Also of interest is an image of an emptied camp at Flossenburg (with stapled caption on verso), showing a horse cart filled with coffins and crosses. The collection also includes images of German P.O.W.'s soon after capture. Overall condition very good to fine.
