Description:

"COLLECTION OF CARTOON PAINTINGS CREATED BY COLLECTIVE EFFORT"
Chinese softbound publication, "Collection of Cartoon Paintings Created by Collective Effort", by Wu Yun, et al. (Beijing: The Editorial Office of "The Liberation Daily"), 1950, 95pp. square 8vo., bound in the Chinese style with staples at the right edge, a collection of political cartoons and illustrations celebrating Chinese Communism and the partnership between China and the Soviet Union, as well as decrying and vilifying American and western imperialism and militarism. Prominently featured figures include caricatures of Uncle Sam and Douglas MacArthur, as well as heroic depictions of Mao Zedong and Josef Stalin. The rear of the publication features two fold-out illustrations, one depicting Chinese prosperity and military advancement, and the other depicting a parade rife with communist and anti-imperialist symbols; a similar fold-out at the front further celebrates Chinese-Soviet solidarity. Some chipping and soiling to the covers, moderate toning throughout, and an old label on the front cover, else very good. From a single collection obtained entirely in China pre-2000.
