Description:

Good pair of Cold War-era U.S. Navy propaganda posters, the first a recruiting poster, 20 1/4" x 30 1/4", illustrated with a bust of an African-American man, with images of the man employed in numerous U.S. Navy roles emerging from his head. Beneath the image appears the title: "Navy. It's a Mind-Growing Experience". No publishing information is present. Shows some folds overall, else very good. WITH: a smaller U.S. Navy "loose lips" propaganda poster, 17" x 22", titled "Guard Against Loose Talk" and illustrated with a photo of a knight's armor (credited to Baltimore's Walter's Art Museum). It is marked "Security Poster 65-1 Bureau of Naval Personnel" at top right, and "Reviewed and Approved: 15 February 1965" at bottom right, with the facsimile signature of an "Assistant Chief for Education and Training". Shows original mailing folds, else very good. Two pieces.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
