117. WILLIAM F. CODY (1846-1917) "Buffalo Bill", American scout and showman, he started his career as a rider with the Pony Express, and in later years organized and promoted "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show". Great content A.L.S. "W. F. Cody", 2pp. 8vo., Chicago, Dec. 11, 1915, to his attorney Henry Hersey, hoping to arrange funding to form his own company. In part: "There is a show with Plant. Cars. Horses. Everything assembled & I can get on a percentage basis but I would rather have the cash and buy an entire new outfit. I leave today for Washington DC to try and arrange for soldiers and recruiting officers to have a recruiting office with my show. Also get permit for Indians..." A postscript reads: "Read next week's `Bill Board', my reply to Tammen's bluff." Very good. $1,200-1,500
