CLEMENT BIDDLE (1740 - 1814) "The Quaker General" organized and led the "Quaker Blues" against the British and fought under Nathanial Greene as well. A.L.S. with holograph transmittal envelope, 2pp. 4to., Philadelphia, Jan. 31, 1800 to register General Samuel Bryan. In part: "...Having gone through the Examination of General Wilkins's accounts I inclose you a copy of his General account...I have another Account of Militia Claims...I beg leave to mention that the Account of my Expenditures under almost the whole of the Appropriations were lodged in your Office for several years...only to compare on my proceeding to the Examination of General Wilkins's Accounts...the delay in the account for the western expedition has not been on my part. My accounts were filed a few months after my return...". Very good.
